27.05.2010 – Canoo launches efficient RIA Toolkit
The new RIA Suite from the Basel-based company Canoo Engineering AG sets new standards in the development of Rich Internet Applications. It provides a modular set of functionality, enabling the efficient implementation of the latest generation of high performance web applications.
Basel, May 27, 2010 – right on time for the company’s 10th anniversary the Basel software house Canoo Engineering AG is launching the RIA Suite. In the form of a modular kit this contains all the components required for the efficient and effective development of the latest generation of web applications, so called Rich Internet Applications (RIA).
With its unique functional scope the suite provides both enterprises and software producers tools for generating high performance, highly interactive RIAs deployable with a minimum of effort and without the need for installation.
As opposed to most RIA toolkits available today, the Canoo RIA Suite is optimised towards the performance requirements of business applications. With its integrated, 100% java-based programming model, as well as an intelligent architecture concept, it can deliver development projects significant time and cost savings of up to 50%. Hans-Dirk Walter, CEO of Canoo Engineering, is convinced that: “With the RIA Suite we set the bar even higher with regard to RIA development”.
The core component of the suite is the RIA-Framework, ULC Core. The flagship of the Basel-based developers, which sailed under the name of UltraLightClient until now, has been thoroughly reworked and enhanced with a multitude of innovative and convenient functions. Thus ULC Core is now delivered as standard with an integrated animation framework, enabling the generation of attractive, dynamic content. In addition, there are rich graphic features for even more attractive designs, as well as comprehensive chart functionality, allowing the straightforward, clear visualisation of even complex content.
In all, the RIA Suite consists of seven optional modules which business users can use to expand ULC Core. These allow, for instance, the generation of applications with drag & drop – using the module Visual Editor – without the need for manual programming effort. The package ULC Load allows professional load and performance tests, while ULC Office Integration provides the simple import and export of Excel and Word files.
