A long-time Grails user, Peter is currently a committer to the project and officially Grails Advocate at SpringSource, a division of VMware. He is also co-author of Grails in Action with Glen Smith.
“Building Twitter with Grails in 40 Minutes”
In this session Peter Ledbrook, core member of the Grails development team and a senior engineer at SpringSource, will demonstrate how the basics of Twitter can be built using Grails and JMS in only 40 minutes. A fast paced and code-driven presentation, Jeff will build a Twitter-like application from scratch using Grails and its rapid application development capability. By bringing together Spring, JMS and Java persistence techniques, Jeff will also provide advanced tips and techniques for constructing Grails applications that can be deployed on to the Java EE platform.
Attendees will learn:
• How to construct a basic Grails project with Spring-based domain objects
• How to incorporate messaging and persistence into your Grails application
• How to adapt basic configuration to suit the needs of you application

Stephen Chin, GXS, USA
Open-Source Developer and Agile Executive, Stephen Chin is founder of numerous projects including WidgetFX and JFXtras. He has been working with Java desktop and enterprise technologies for over a decade, and has a passion for improving development technologies and process. Stephen’s interest in Java technologies has lead him to start a Java and JavaFX focused blog (http://steveonjava.wordpress.com/) and coauthor the Pro JavaFX Platform book together with Jim Weaver, Weiqi Gao, and Dean Iverson. Stephen is a regular speaker at Java User Groups and Conferences, a 2009 JavaOne Rock Star, and a Java Champion.
