The Duke is Java’s well known mascot. When he grabs his electric guitar, this figuratively signifies the award of the highly sought-after distinction of JavaOne Rock Star. Since 2005 Oracle has been bestowing this title, thus honouring speakers for their outstanding session content and speaking ability at JavaOne conferences.
With his session “Extending Java’s Reach with Groovy: Seven Scenarios” Dierk König won over the jury, and has likewise been gracing the JavaOne Rock Star Wall of Fame since 2011. “Honing the craft together” is the topic of next Saturday, 3rd December, when Canoo is sponsoring the Swiss installment of the Global Day of Code Retreat. It’s being held in Lugano, which is easily reachable from Switzerland or Northern Italy, and will be facilitated by Canooie Hamlet D’Arcy.
You and other passionate software developers will spend the day practicing the craft of software development using the coderetreat format. The event is free, lunch is provided, and you’ll get a chance to practice your programming skills while taking part in an event that criss-crosses the globe.
