The visit of HTML5 and Ajax expert Nathaniel T. Schutta at our Canoo offices attracted huge interest, as the internationally renowned speaker brought with him the topics HTML5 and jQuery mobile. Meanwhile, by developing their own mobile application, course participants had the chance to see for themselves what both technologies have to offer. During the subsequent practice test on the smartphone, the app generated enormous enthusiasm across the board!

At JAX 2012 people had the opportunity to witness Canoo together with HTML5 in all its facets. At the expo stand our experts closely scrutinized the new trend, drew comparisons with current technologies and clarified issues on the topic of multi-channel. In addition, far removed from the exhibition, our speakers also ensured attendees’ engrossment and enthusiasm. In their keynote speeches at the main conference, Gerrit Grunwald, Andres Almiray, Andreas Hölzl and Dierk König served visitors with a “full broadside”. The Canoo quartet won over the audience with exciting contributions on their favourite technologies. Our HTML5 Day sessions likewise met with huge interest.
We have already noted the date for W-JAX 2012 in our schedules. Have you too?

The Duke is Java’s well known mascot. When he grabs his electric guitar, this figuratively signifies the award of the highly sought-after distinction of JavaOne Rock Star. Since 2005 Oracle has been bestowing this title, thus honouring speakers for their outstanding session content and speaking ability at JavaOne conferences.
With his session “Extending Java’s Reach with Groovy: Seven Scenarios” Dierk König won over the jury, and has likewise been gracing the JavaOne Rock Star Wall of Fame since 2011. Together with Andres Almiray, who received the award in 2010, he typifies Canoo’s goal-oriented and successful professional consulting.

Would you like to get to know our Groovy, Grails or Griffon experts in person? Then take the next opportunity at the GenevaJUG Birthday Party, which is sponsored by Canoo.

Enterprise Integration projects belong to some of the most complex projects in the IT world. Getting several existing applications working together in a reliable and efficient way requires choosing an integration middleware that not only fulfills the technical requirements, but that also promotes „agility“. Apache Camel is one of the Open Source projects that shines in this area, not only because of its rich set of technical features, but also because of its lightweight approach to Enterprise Integration.

The Oscar-winning director Xavier Koller is filming the story of the well-known Bern citizen named Dällebach Kari. For this exceptional movie the filmmakers needed a special website, which was designed for them by Canoo.
In order for quick and easy maintenance, we created a custom, lightweight content management system based on the WordPress platform. The site needed to be not only easy to maintain but also adaptable to the needs of the film crew and production team. To this end, we developed several custom Plug-ins for WordPress, allowing things such as the online editorial department to continuously upload live videos. There are other interactive features as well, for example each visitor can place his or her favorite joke on the site and other users can evaluate it.
That’s how a Website became a real Film portal. We are looking forward to seeing the movie! You can access the Film portal under the following link.

Already noticed? Our specialists in word processing, the Canoo LanguageTools, are now equipped with new APIs and an extended vocabulary.

The new Java API returns the analysis results as structured objects (instead of strings, as before). This facilitates the integration of the LanguageTools in your own software. No need to decompose the analysis results any longer – you can use them as is. For backwards compatibility, the new APIs provide methods for converting into the previous string output format.
Plus, we give you more words: The covered vocabulary was substantially extended and revised.

You don’t know our LanguageTools? The Canoo LanguageTools are software components for efficient word processing. Typically they are used within search engines, for text indexing, text mining, machine translation and many more applications. We provide our LanguageTools for three languages: English, German, and Italian.
You think this may be something for you? Feel free to contact us.
